After 6ish years, 2 albums, an EP and a bunch of tour dates throughout Western Canada – Calgary rock’n’roll band Black Earth is calling it quits. They’re not going quietly though – one final blowout of a show will be had November 27th at Dicken’s Pub. The show will be rounded out with a nice slate of other Calgary acts: Alkatine, The Evidence & Craic the Lens.
Official Message from the Band:
To simply say “it was a hell of a ride” wouldn’t even begin to describe the experience that was Black Earth, but it sounds cool and gets the point across, so yeah, it was a hell of a ride. This band meant so much to us and it’s one of my proudest achievements, right up there with getting my journeymen ticket and that time I smashed my head open with a beer bottle… We toured all over western Canada many times, had hilarious and scary adventures, sold over 2000 Cd’s, smoked all the pot, played countless incredible shows with so many incredible bands, and most importantly had such amazing support from so many fantastic humanoids… Seriously, you people rock. I can’t thank you enough. We set out on a mission for Rock And Roll and 6 years later I say with complete confidence that we accomplished that mission…….. But sadly that wasn’t enough to keep it together and now the time has come for Black Earth meet it’s demise… So with the support from WickedGigz we are playing our final show at Dickens Pub, our favourite venue. – Anthony
