Goldlink – How it’s Done #listen #rap #dmv

After hearing this on Songza, filed under hot new rap and seeing that it was getting Hottt reviews and blog love – I decided it was time to give Goldlink. a listen.

This kid is 20 years old and blastin’ out of the DMV – aka D.C., Maryland, Virginia area – with an interesting approach to the beats and pop delivery. This track, How it’s Done turns it nose up at trap and goes for more of a dance jungle vibe. Like a lot his other songs, this one is about his love life. The Britney Spears ‘Toxic‘ breakdown at the end shows a solid throwback to when Goldlink was 15 and trying to impress the ladies. I can’t argue with a bit of self awareness in the production.
